Here are our 4 application requirements:
1) You must be 20 years old at the time of application.
2) You must be a United States citizen.
3) You must have a high school diploma or GED.
4) You must have a valid driver’s license.

You will then be invited to take the Civil Service Exam for Police Officer.

Pay begins at $70,692.29/year for recruits selected to receive paid training in the Columbus Division of Police Academy class, and after 48 months growing to $108,291.66/year.
After one year of employment, Columbus Police provides 100% college tuition reimbursement up to a PhD; additionally, promotional opportunities are available after 3 years of service.

Tattoo Policy
Directive 11.01- Professional Appearance
Division personnel:
(1) Shall have no visible tattoos on the head, neck, or hands unless
they are cosmetic in nature (for example, wedding bands,
eyebrows, eyeliner, etc.) and otherwise conform with and do
not violate the Division’s grooming and appearance policies.
(2) Shall have no tattoos (visible or not visible) that depict obscene,
gang-related, extremist, or otherwise offensive images, which may
bring the Division into disrepute.
